As the most reliable news source in crypto gaming, best looking, most cancelled but still the #1 gamor in this niche, I would like to rectify dramatic news I pushed about @TheSandboxGame, I was wrong.
@ysiu Chairman of Animoca, reassures that the Sandbox will continue.
🚨BREAKING: The sandbox game is shutting down!
As someone that invested, collaborated with them a few times, and actually played their game since 2020 I have a good take on what happened.
1. They focused on too many paid partnerships that led to nothing, like Faze Clan, Paris Hilton, Snoop Dogg, and many many more.
2. Never actually cared for creators making content, didn’t engage, didn’t care, didn’t make sure they were taken care of and I am not talking about myself, I got paid a few times by them, I am talking about the type of Axie/ronin treatment were they truly care about their community. If you look at Roblox they understand creators and content is king.
3. Massive spendings in parties, traditional advertising, and events.
4. They made a lot of money in sales but spend a lot somewhere else, barely spent money on user acquisition, that’s what token incentives are for. I have seen this happen with many games, they are totally against giving a new user a few dollars through gameplay but are spending millions somewhere else.
5. Their world got too complicated to understand. Too many features all at once, it wasn’t as simple as login and choose a world to play.
6. Their game maker wasn’t that friendly and easy to use, I think it needed to be more plug and play and I believe deploying was locked to land holders only, that kills the growth.
7. Game mechanics weren’t that bad but never really reached its full potential. It needed some work.
8. Mobile never came
I think with the amount of money Sandbox raised things could be turned around with a few tweaks but it seams it’s now over.
Why are they building a memecoin platform, that is the strangest pivot I have ever seen.
